Crystal Shift

Studio Floris Wubben is known for its ceramic work, yet their newest design project is made of the material HI-MACS. For this project, Floris Wubben researched the material – a combination of minerals and acryl – which led to a collection of hanging lighting objects. Crystal Shift is developed in collaboration with Baars & Bloemhoff and will be first exhibited during Dutch Design Week at Broeinest in Eindhoven.

During the research process, Wubben discovered he could tear the matter apart after heating it with a self-developed heating tool. This brings the core to the surface, giving the lighting objects an organic and rough character. The integrated LED strips amplify the translucent material properties.
